Reg first paragraph, I was also under the same impression until I saw quite a number of yesteryear movie advertisements. I have my own doubts.

On the second paragraph, I have no comments. Unless I was in Nagercoil and counting tickets everyday, I can't verify that claim. I am more or less on the same boat as you. My post is for Karthik and wasn't aimed at the whole context of the discussion.
