Ponnumani was well known as a followup to the hit Kizhakku Vasal, mattapadi just the songs. I don't remember what the movie is about, except it features a misunderstood poor Karthik, a different role that a poor misunderstood Karthik in Kizhakku Vasal. However, the director, Uthayakumar then directed Karthik again as poor misunderstood Karthik in Nanthavana Theru a totally forgettable film, even the songs despite IR.
