I am not a novel reader.. but is this true abt Sujatha ?
All I can say is there's none like Sujatha in Thamizh to me (so far, that is).
While it's a fact that he probably read more than many of us, IMSO, he got more inspired by personal observations of his own "at-that-point-of-time" environments than writings of others.
It's possible that he got some ideas for his stories but most people appreciate Sujatha for the 'nadai' than the story itself. That was his USP and it was more evident in his non-fictional works that were immensely enjoyable.
However, his contribution to "scientific things in movies" is no great shakes (vikram the most hyped pathetic example and there are not many good examples)
As for Madhan, well, he was a great / hilarious cartoonist but a pathetic writer. His Q & A in vikatan (and may be some articles) are what this blog probably refers to and those are pathetic as well.
