I don't think he had any "peak" moments. Always been there, after the main comedians who enjoyed their cycle. From Nagesh's time, to Suruli, then Annan, to whoever is dominating now, VAM had the same market, as Mr_Karthik put it. But I notice that the younger generation seemed to be much fonder of him. He's always the "get the job done" guy.

Watched Mundru Theivanggal (1971) last night, with heavyweights* around, he managed to hold on his own. Wife burst out laughing at the first sight of him. Voted for him.
