Ha, that's a very interesting way to put it, Jaiganes! My problem with Cheran's films is not as much with their sentimentalism as their moralism. He's such a straight-shooting moralist that he designs his entire film to meet those ends. In this light, I think someone like a Thangar Bachaan is actually better than Cheran. The former has at least his "storytelling instincts" in place.
