For a story like this, IMO, 4 to 5 minute songs will be big irritations. If the director is brilliant, he should be able to merge few song phrases here and there in the narration (and not foolishly pack off the hero/heroine to Alps to do group dances).
Also, since people like Shankar have already used to the full many of the "foreign attractions", less focus on showing places should help in making the movie crisp and enjoyable (was this story the inspiration for Shankar to use the name 'Madhumitha' for Jeans?)
But then, these may be high expectations -forgetting the reality of the TN audience mentality- I think.
I think Sujatha wrote part II immediately after his first ever trip to U.S. and that effect can be felt in most narrations. And definitely it caused a big impact among TN youths those days in adding some glitter to the American dream (which got multipled many times during the period of Jeans).
I will watch this movie - without reading any review or opinion. Let's see how the team measures up!
