‘Dindigul Sarathy’, a film with comedian Karunas as the hero, has been sold for a whopping Rs.10 crore for distribution in Tamil Nadu. The distribution rights for the film produced at a modest budget of Rs.1.5 crore, have been bought by Sun Pictures.

The Coimbatore region alone has fetched for Rs.75 lakh, a rate equalling that of many of the frontline heroes. Naturally, Karunas is over the moon!

This is the first time Karunas dons the role of the male lead in a film. The film is a remake of the Malayalam hit, ‘Vadakkunokki Yantram’, written and directed by Sreenivasan.

In Kollywood, comedians romancing the leading ladies is nothing new. But, B.O. results were not always pleasant. Vadivelu films ‘Imsai Arasan…’ was a big hit, but Vivek’s ‘Solli Adippaen’ is yet to see the light of the day. He has already started working on his second film as a lead actor in ‘Maganae Marumaganae’.
