The message matters somewhat to me, but it also depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Like, if I'm just in a crazy sort of mood and I'm pissed off at the world (which is very rare nowadays), I can throw on some Slipknot to help chill me out.
Generally, though, I don't like bands to have too much of a message; they can't be ramming it down my throats, I mean. That's why I like Stone Sour so much: they're great music, have a great message, but don't force it upon you if you don't want to hear it.
