I think you are basing Rajini from movies you seen from 1995 to 2006.

So far the most hardcore masala movies that rajini has done is padayappa,baasha,arunachaalam,Baba,Paayum puli. Yejaaman was family oriented. Chandramukhi was no masala and i would be amused if you count mullum malurum,kai kodukkum kai,jhonny,avargal,aval oru thodarkadhai,ilamai oonjalaadugirathu,moondram mudichu,sri raghavendra etc as one of the Freaking masala movies. Mamooty is not a mass hero in malayalam..that was mohanlal...and Amitabh Bachan did those roles because he lost his mass power..if not it would be on the same length as rajini. Besides when You compare rajini's acting skills with amitabh bachan...rajini is slightly better by purely deriving at the fact that rajini could outdo kamalhassan in some of their earlier movies while kamalhassan outdid him in the rest...but when kamalhassan did with amitabh bachan,bachan looked more like a mouse.

out-doing?

what does it mean.....because both rajni and kamal dint get award winning roles with balachander...rajni got comic roles which attracts people....is that called out-doing?
