Default Is there a natural hierarchy of life?
No sane person would allow a rodent or pest infestation in there homes because they value the lives of the creatures, nor would they refuse life-saving antibiotics that would *kill* the organism living in their body.

People kill the pests and parasites because we place more value on human life.
Is the life of rich more valuable than that of poor?
Is human life more valuable than the animal life? Animals do get eaten.
Is animal life more valuable than fungus and plant life? The plants do get eaten by animals?
But sometimes plants eat animals, too.
