I have read this long back and as far as I know this story was circulated to tarnish the name of Indira Gandhi but certain unhappy quarters of the society after the famous entry of the soldiers into a well known temple.

BTW the name Nehru as it is mentioned in the article is derived from the word Nehr which means Canal or Bank of a river.
I have read before that this people of this surname were Brahmins from Kashmir who used to reside by the banks of a river.

So its not as if its some cover up name for a muslim trying to act like a Hindu.

There are other communities like Jaats that come with the surname Nehra which also has the same meaning as Nehr.
And Nehra Jaats are warriors and have ancestry tracing back to the royals of Rajasthan.

So Nehr origin surnames are basically Hindu surnames.

This whole article seems very biased.

Even if its true it won't change my opinion of Indira Gandhi.

She is a person who made India proud.

That's what really matters the most.
