I wanted to cite this article, which appeared in "The Hindu" a few days back, before but I did not find time.

The Hindu : States / Tamil Nadu : Caste outfits ask members to shed sub-sect identities

Caste consolidation is at hand presumably as a precursor to communal quotas!

Also, note the reference to varna terms among NB communities like Vanniyarkula "Kshathriyar" or "Kshathriya" Nadar Iyakkam. So much for the land of EVR :-)

If a "casteless" category emerges, what do you think will its size be in TN?
