Srirangam temple is a place of worship and functional. There is no need to get the stamp of world heritage monument status. There are enough laws to correct perceived problems in protection, encroachment and mal-administration. Some years ago, there was a concerted effort to take thiruvannamalai temple under ASI, but was dropped after lot of protests. Now kadalmallai temple is under similar threat.
Temple is not a tourist spot; it is a place for worship. heritage status will destroy its sanctity and utility.
