I always like the Vaishnavite calculation of Krishna jayanthi. They take into consideration star ROhiNi in AvaNi month.

The smarthAs consider the ashtami thithi, after their yajur upAkarma on the full moon day, which follows Adi amAvasai!

Somehow I feel bad about the birthday being calculated with ashtami thithi!
