Sorry folks I am going to be blunt on this issue.

what do you mean by growth ?. Hapazard development, concrete structures/houses/apartments/office complex that will fall & kill millions when a earthquake hits, floods, hapazard & unsafe dams, nuclear reactors in the middle of thick population centers, pollution, noise, corruption in govt & private sector, over 800 Mil (okay if you dispute this number, you can go with 300 or 400 or 500 or 600 Million people ..) in dire poverty.

Despite the fact the cause of urban growth is only due to the privatization unleashed by PV Narasimha Rao, we are not willing to private the rural sector under the pretext of protecting our poor farmers (already dying from poverty !!) from the rich bad enterprenuers & unleash the same level of growth for our poor rural citizens. Millions of rural folks are pouring into the cities & making it unliveable for everyone.. unprecented regulation is strangling the growth for rural economy, prices are controlled & dictated by the Govt, public distribution nonsense, etc....

Oh yeah, we all need to be proud of our Growth story (Indians are good in hype, exaggeration, drama...), except that it is only a story..
