I think it is reading and discerning too much into that single line.
ஆரியம் போல் உலக வழக்கழிந்து ஒழிந்து சிதையா உன் சீரிளமை திறம் வியந்து செயல் மறந்து வாழ்த்துதுமே
My understanding of this line is this:

Sanskrit has become extinct among languages in common usage now. You, Thamizh, are still young and going strong. We are amazed and enthralled so much that we lose our sense of what is going on around us when we praise you.

This is my elementary explanation. To my mind it (seyal maRandu) does not look like poruT kuRRam. If you contact a Thamizh scholar (whoever has access in Chennai) like iLangumaNanAr or Solomon Paappaiah you could get a professional interpretation (rather than our amateurish explanation).
