South Indian history has to be studied carefully to identify the sea trades (Go to section Foreign sources).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandyan_Dynasty

Also suggest to refer Indo-Roman trade relations from wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Roman_trade_and_

It clearly shows the sea trade relation with ancient Europe (Roman and Greeks) happened through Red sea and Mediterranean sea from Tamil kingdoms before the Christian era

It is quiet possible and evident that disciple Thomas would have traveled to South India to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ since this land had a trade relationship for a long while

The RED sea and Mediterranean sea once connected during old testament bible era was later separated by land and could not use it as a sea trade route with European countries until Suez canal was constructed in 18th century

The modern days sea route to India was found by Vasco-da-Gama via Africa continent in 15th century AD as an alternative to the early sea route which was disconnected by the land between RED sea and Mediterranean sea

Off course, we study a wrong history stating that Vasco-da-Gama found the sea route to India which buries the entire History of our Ancient trade relation across continents
