param, on ur point 2, how are u comparing a brahmin and a bikku?
by brahmin, do u mean a priest here? and if so, these priests need not be away from their material attachment...
or u meant a sanyasi there? if so, they need not be brahmins...

btw, w.r.to the funeral ceremonies... i think not all the hindus are following these first day, 7th day kinda rituals.. more than 50% do it as per their convenience
