Makkal TV USes "thaani" for Auto - anybody can esplain

Autorickshaw = thaniyangizhuvai (தானியங்கிழுவை). The etymology of that should be obvious

Just as the term "autorickshaw" is abbreviated to "auto", "thaniyangizhuvai" is abbreviated to "thani" (தானி).
