Can Israel Survive Another Arab Muslim State Called “Palestine
By Emanuel A. Winston
IHC Abstract
Winston explores the chances of Israel’s survival with a Palestinian state in its heartland. His conclusions are that Israel can endure, but not without ongoing Arab hostilities in an effort to annex as much land as possible as part of a futuristic utopian Muslim Ummah. This being the case, Israel must never compromise its security interests to placate other foreign interests, especially those of the United States. With Muslim conquest gaining rapid ideological momentum, Israel cannot afford to give up its long-cherished right of preemption to satisfy an oil-driven U.S. State Department.

The Israeli people, as a people, have survived thousands of years, both in Israel and in the Diaspora. I cannot think of an era or a nation that has not invaded the Land of Israel in the hopes of – literally – adding the God of Israel to their panoply of pagan gods. They may succeed in temporarily capturing the bricks and mortar of Jerusalem but never the elusive spirit of the one God.
The question “Can Israel survive another hostile Arab Muslim state in the region, or worse yet, a state called ‘Palestine’ in its very heartland?†can be answered “Yes, but not without suffering unremitting terror and continual episodes of war.†Considering the Koran’s mandate to them, Muslims will continue to try to either conquer Israel through force of arms or through demographic increase. The Arab Muslim Palestinians have a prodigious birthrate, which can be adduced from the population explosion in Gaza since it was turned over to Yasser Arafat through the Oslo Accords. Palestinians do not seem to mind the overcrowding and poor living conditions. And when they do, their misery is always directed at Israel as the cause, not at the Arab leadership, who programmed their misery as a weapon against Israel.
A Palestinian state would be free to build or import weapons in tonnage. Presently, more moderate acquisition is accomplished through smuggling. The tunnels from Egypt (with Mubarak’s knowledge) provide entry for small arms, including shoulder-fired missiles (anti-tank and anti-aircraft) as well as explosives and terrorists. As a full-fledged state, Palestinians would soon become a receptacle of larger and deadlier weapons, including missiles with chemical and biological warheads.
Egypt itself continues to be a growing concern for the IDF. Now that it has amassed approximately $60 billion in U.S. armaments under the U.S. aid program, Egypt is a military colossus in the Middle East. In the event of war between Israel and any of the Arab nations, namely Syria and Iran, Egypt has pledged to intervene on the latter’s behalf.
The Egyptians would rely on the Palestinians’ becoming a front line, an insurgent force supplied by the tunnels, to impede or at least slow up Israeli mobilization to all fronts. As Israel came to learn when it went into Lebanon in 1982, Syria had also counted on the same rationale. Israel discovered miles of tunnels carved into the Lebanese mountains, filled with pre-positioned armaments and written plans for a Palestinian attack against Israel. According to these plans, Syrians would soon follow.
Syria is always a concern. From military journals about its missile capability, one learns that Syria has advanced warheads with Sarin Gas and is currently working on VX chemicals – both of them deadly. Syria, like Iraq and Iran, invariably lies to the world about its WMDs, and the world turns a blind eye. We have already witnessed the inclusion of many escape clauses and waivers in The Syrian Accountability Act recently passed by the American Congress, which amount to a complete avoidance of implementing any punishment on the Syrians.
There is deep concern in Israel’s Military Intelligence over the synchronized effort of the Syrians, Iranians and Egyptians in a potential war. A joint effort would translate into a deluge of missile attacks on Israel’s population centers and military bases. The objective would be to cripple Israel’s retaliatory capability and would no doubt include nuclear strikes, if and when Iran develops such a capability.
At one time, Israel conducted preemptive strikes when it knew the Arab nations were gathering to attack. That tactic was seriously compromised when the U.S. under Nixon and Kissinger warned Israel not to preemptively attack Egypt on pains of losing U.S. re-supply assistance. An acceptance of this dictum in the face of the Yom Kippur attack in 1973 could have cost Israel the war. The re-supply of ammunition and TOW missiles, shipped from storage depots in Germany on the orders of General Al Haig, came at a crucial moment. I know this because I was landing at Ben Gurion Airport at the same time the giant Galaxies were landing with this re-supply.
On the southern front in 1973, General Ariel Sharon saved the day when he disobeyed orders from the IDF General Staff and crossed the Suez Canal. He raced with armor behind the surprised Egyptian Third Army and surrounded them. They were trapped. At this time, the U.S. and the Soviets stepped in to save Egypt’s Third Army by forcing Israel to release them. The Arab Muslims have launched and lost every war against Israel. Each time, the American oil gang intervened, forcing the U.S. government to step in and save the Arab countries from defeat.
As for the question, “Can Israel survive with another Arab Muslim state called ‘Palestine’ in its heartland?†the answer is still “Yes! But not without suffering from permanent Arab aggression.†The Mullahs will always invoke the Koranic mandate which declares that wherever a Muslim has stepped foot, he must return to reclaim the land for the great Ummah (the world and people of Islam). Thus, Israel is on their agenda – as is Spain and half of France. The mendacious claim that Israel is an occupying force will always be part of their propaganda to justify terror attacks.
Israel can survive another Arab Muslim State of Palestine, but there will always be conflict. There is little doubt the surrounding Arab nations who have unwanted Arab Palestinians on their soil will transfer (eject) them into whatever space is called ‘Palestine’. The numbers could be anywhere between three to five million. There they will sit, as they do in the squalor of the refugee camps, demanding entry into Israel for work and more living space. You can count on the Europeans’ and Americans’ backing their demands. After all, they constantly insist that Israel open its checkpoints to allow the Arabs in for work, despite the terror that always ensues.
Israel faces a serious mix of threats on all its borders – including 12,000 missiles in the hands of Hizbullah in the area of Lebanon that then Prime Minister Ehud Barak abandoned. Some of these missiles are known to carry chemical warheads supplied by Iran via Syria.
Israel relies heavily on its friend and ally the U.S. Israel depends on U.S. aid and on its power of veto in the U.N. Unfortunately, U.S. foreign policy is shaped vis-Ã-vis the interests of oil-rich Arab nations. If Israel continues to accept American assistance, it will be forced to defer to U.S. foreign policy and thereby to Arab interests. It is high time Israel act upon its own sovereign interests.
