However, there is no doubt that Chen's empty portfolio stands out like a sore thumb. One way is for Sylvia Lim to give way to Chen in the Aljunied CC grassroots where SL serves as co-chairman. She has 3 chairmen portfolios.

The other sore thumb is the vacant assistant secretary general. But it would also be advantageous to wait and fill in the post only after a new potential secretary general is found. Right now I don't see anyone and don't think Pritam or Gerald Giam makes the cut.
The top three positions are filled by party veterans. So where to put him? Other than the SG, Chairman & VC, the rest of the portfolios are peripheral positions. If he is as good as many think he is, putting him in these lesser posts is an insult to him. Why not just keep him as a council member then?

I feel that we shouldn’t read too much into this new lineup.

On another note, Muhamad Faisal’s appointment as Youth Wing President is a surprise. I think it’s a shrewd move. Perhaps, after NSP & SDP, WP is also eyeing the Malay votes?
