The late South Korean President Park Chung Hee laid the foundations for his country's industrialization and rapid economic growth and after that South Korea was able to transform from a backward rural economy to its current status as an economic, industrial and technological power. Park is personally responsible for creating the chaebols which China followed (let the few prosper first, and the rest follow.)

The trouble is that the chaebols grew bigger and bigger despite needing a govt bailout in 1997 crisis. And their Confucius culture falls apart to a material culture of privileges and slaves.
