I asked quite a number of people about locals and PRC interaction. One common comment was any interaction was done with a clear purpose and not friendship driven. Many felt that PRC were keen to use Singapore as spingboard to the West or to use Singapore as education and business satellite but home was still China. There did seem to have a common ground. One other comment that was quite interesting was contact was more often with those who were married to Ang Mo and therefore more open but they felt they were superior.

It will be good if someone wrote an ariticle to steet debate.

The Chinese are now divided into two races like the Eloi and the Morlocks. The Singapore Chinese and China Chinese. Ironically, the Singapore Chinese can find solace with Malays more than China Chinese and the first two jointly disdain the third (for poor uncouth habits, loud noise). It is now about 60% to 40%. (Perankans are more Singapore Chinese than ever.)

The Vietnam-Fillipina-Burmese group is beginning to become a large population here.
