Children always end up surprising the parents no matter what you do with them. I know of only a few children who ended up sticking to what their parents taught them.

Hah, reminds me of ... me.
I was taught by my parents that only Communism and Capitalism were suitable political views (how I came about, I have no idea, given one is a Commie and the other is/was a Capitalist).
Luckily, I turned out to be smarter than the two of them combined.
