I did find it interesting that you said "I won't bother quoting the article" and then ended up reading out selected bits for the next thirty minutes.

Perhaps the length of the recording was too long? It wasn't for me but others might have thought so?
Actually, I said - "I am not going to quote the speech word for word" this is because if I did that it would have blown out the show to over 90 minutes.

Well, yeah. Why did you decide to make a close-to-an-hour lecture this time? And you focused on two different topics. It makes a broadcast less efficient in terms of information retention for listeners.
I was just trying something different since some people have said that the show was too short at around twenty minutes. I think from now on I'll leave it to the way it was since I'm not entirely happy with the end result. Around twenty minutes seems to be a good balance as it is not too long as to bore people and as you say it makes it easier for them to take everything in.
