Default Muslim's Take on the CHC saga

Following the recent City Harvest Church saga, many followers of the church are working hard to restore the image of their Church and Pastor. In the midst of the debate, one Singaporean Muslim wrote online in a Facebook Note (http://www.facebook.com/notes/mohamm...59495054082723) about his take on the events. The writer, Dr. Mohammad Nizam Abdul Kadir stirred up a heated debate within the online community suggesting that the use of Church Funds was much like the government's control over Singapore's CPF and that the intervention and consequent capture of the church leaders was similar to Operation Spectrum of 1987.

The writer is an active Muslim Singaporean who has strong views on a united Singapore. Some of his other views on topic include his input on whether or not the national anthem langauge should be changed found in another Facebook Note (http://www.facebook.com/notes/mohamm...61999270498968). Here he talked about the importance of holding onto Singapore culture and emphasised that Singapore was a multi-cultural place.

Dr. Nizam also formed the Ummah Wahida Movement (http://themuslimvillage.ummahwahida....-ummah-wahida/) which aspires to unite all Muslims towards the ''establishment of the Islamic Caliphate that will reign over the order of the world''. His views are criticised to be quite strange by some netizens, and others have commented with suspicion of his motives of writing on these issues.

Regardless of hidden motives, Dr. Nizam's perspective on these issues is yet a new way to see the CHC saga. For those interested, he also keeps a blog available here (http://mrzam.blogspot.sg/2011/04/thi...-old-blog.html).
