With the possible creation of the state of Turkey!!! I'd say that entire chapter stands as a very large demonstation against sharia government. And please, let's separate sharia as a form of government and sharia fiqh that every Muslim practices. They were not demonstrating against dietary requirements or praying five times a day which is also sharia.

On May 13, 2007, over a million Turks marched in Izmir in favor of Turkey remaining secular. Check out the picture.
