It is an utter waste of time to ask those sorts of questions. The response should be more ferocious than the attack, and there should be no limit to escalation until the enemy is destroyed. If the enemy can absorb the casualties that are inflicted, then kill more until they lose interest. That is basic to war.
War? There's a war on? Who declared it? The current small-scale rocket exchange between Israel and the Palis is a "war" in the mildest sense of the word.

Now I know I will hear people respond with "yeah, and that's why there is no peace."
