As if Germany are the only submarine manufacturers in the world. It seemed to be a classic case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Then the realisation hits them that Israel is not arab and has no need to run cap in hand.

Germany will build and pay up to one-third of the cost of a sixth Dolphin-class submarine to be delivered to the navy, a German government official said on Wednesday. Jewlery has a 400% markup, so when you purchase some at 50% off, the retailer is still making 100% profit. Under those seemingly generous terms I should think that Germany still stands to make quite a bit from the sale.
