The idea that there are no moderate Muslims reminds me of that scene (I think it was in Apocalypse Now) where a door-gunner on a helicopter was shooting every Vietnamese he could see.

A soldier asked him how he could tell the Viet Cong apart from the innocent civilians.

He replied, "If they run, they're V.C.; if they don't run, they're well disciplined V.C."
