Is it possible?
Sure. The Arabs have sold each other out since the beginning of time. Like the European governments, the Arabs will backstab their brothers in a heart beat if there is enough profit in it.

And this is, of course about profit.

Egypt stands to make a fortune in trade with the Palestinians when Israel withdraws from Gaza, especially since the Egyptians will be granted an official role post-disengagement. Hamas is now the only bar to the disengagement plan unfolding and so it is in Egypt's interest to help Israel eliminate Hamas' big bargaining chip, which is their ability to destabilize the situation with Kassams.

As soon as the Palestinians gain control of the new Jew-free Gaza, an enormous amount of European money will flow into infrastructure projects and, of course, into the hands of local corrupt Palestinians. You can bet that a good chunk of this money will find its way into Egyptian hands, as well, because the Egyptians are likely to have their own troops supervise the situation in Gaza at least on an interim basis until there is an official Palestinian state.

That's why Egypt has been holding conferences in Cairo to mediate between Arafat's men and Hamas. But after nearly a year of stonewalling, Egypt has come to understand that Hamas is an obstacle that needs to be brought in line.

So, I not surprised that Egypt is cooperating with the Mossad.
