Thank you Gentleman, but I am still not convinced that immunization by humans is the best answer. My father was against immunization and he wouldn’t allow me to be immunized, but I was once at school. I am still very fit and healthy at 68 years of age...

Well, obviously the vaccinations are responsible! (Note the post hoc fallacy.)

One thing that bugs me about people opposed to vaccination is that so many of them promote techniques which are essentially identical to vaccination : pox parties. They deliberately expose their children to the disease so that the children's immune systems get a taste of the disease and develop antibodies. Yet apparently doing this in a controlled manner in the form of a vaccine is somehow evil. And before AuDigga or others complain that the vaccine is injected, this was essentially the way variolation for smallpox worked - scratch a child's skin, then insert a piece of infected scab.
