You may not be aware of this, but the Buddha had at least 4 words for love. Filial affection (piya), friendship (mitta), sexual (raga) and unconditional (metta-karuna-upekka).

that's probably the case. i tend to think that most attitudes were led from the earlier civilisations and those seem to me to be from the Indian sub-continent.
