How do you know for sure only arahants added in all the later additions to Buddhism? Personally, I prefer to follow translations of the pali suttas carefully and take everything else with a grain of salt. We still have the Pali literature as the earliest available teachings of the Buddha. Although a few suttas have dodgy places which seem like additions/alterations, overall they seem fine and verifiable imo.
