Hiya Andy,

It is relevant to early Mahayana and the development of a mistaken attitude towards Theravada Buddhism which still exists today with some.

It is an inaccurate term when used to describe Theravada and therefore as website manager I felt that its definately worthwhile me popping a brief note into this 'Mahayana and Theravada' thread for the benefit of newcomers to Buddhism who may get the wrong impression about it.
