I think the Beyond Belief subforum is a place where people ought to give a hoot about rules of evidence and fallacies of reasoning, lest they make mere assertions about these rather contentious topics. The rest of the forum is a rather relaxed place; here, the tendency for upset is strong enough that an external structure of objectivity is quite helpful.
Yes, point taken Dave, I'd forgotten we were in BB ....and of course it was originally intended as a lively debating forum for the more experienced practitioner.
