A beautiful speech Element!
Thanks for finding it.
I keep this moments:
10'47'': He talks about the importance of simplicity. A simple way of living. To keep it simple; as simple as possible.
13'34'': Under the same line of reasoning... Emptiness leads to freedom where simplicity is a reminder of this. We do not need so many things to live a simple life.
Then came this, full of significance:
21'30'': He is commenting about a woman that was abused and felt peace and serenity in the monastery and that's the real significance of a monastery... a place for peace and security.
Now I know why I liked so much that austere and simple stone build Franciscan Temple i visited in my last vacations. I know that feeling.
25'55'': When telling a story about a thief stealing the money in a monastery: "Why should I call the police, responded the monk. If you need that money, take it, it is charity. Kind people give it to us... why can't we give it to you?
54'00'': He speaks about prison systems and the wrong idea of "punishment". This touch me deeply too, because my recent experience when working with female inmates that learnt meditation and felt always a sort of confidence with the Roshi that help us to bring zazen there.
