cannot understand how people actually believe the the text of the Heart Sutra can be other than a fictitious add-on to the already existing words of the Buddha....especially this part:
You are not alone in this consideration Aloka; this sutta as others of the Mahayana tradition were drop out by some Soto schools. Why? Because Soto is supposed to develop a direct understanding through meditation and silent understanding(known as Negemisho). This attitude needs to focus on the core teachins of the historical Buddha and nothing else. The add-ons given by the Mahayana approach are completely against the aim of Soto and its essential practice rooted in the day to day events.
