the original idea came from here, in respect to kamma & contact. i felt the term 'cessation' did not really fit the context:

From the appeasment of contact is the appeasement of kamma; and just this noble eightfold path — right view, right resolve, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration — is the path of practice leading to the appeasement of kamma.
