all buddhist practices are based on certain principals that buddah tought like respect for all living things, that is what i was speaking about in referance to Theravada. I was trying to state to practice Theravada or any type of buddhism truly you must truly be completely good not evil and today that the major key to be truly good today is by respecting all living beings just as buddah had tought them back then when he had made all his followers immortal.
Eating a living being is not respecting them, plus seeds and stuff like that are living babys so it is really evil to eat them and kill them. If you did know what buddahs teachings were about and their purposes were then you would know part of the point of them was to make a being immortal, and another part make the beings completely good and not evil.
I thought i should share this reminder of one of his main teachings and little explination about how we do have the power within us to grow without eating and remind these buddhist about how buddah loved all beings weather plant or animal and was trying to get everyone to do so. In truth until you do no evil you will not be able to unlock your heart of compassion or even do meditation properly.
Good actions have good results evil reactions have bad results, a good result is attaing enlightenment, a bad result is not attaining it. So you can see to get any of the good result you must practice truly and fully his teaching of respecting all living things for that is the base good action you are lacking in your life and will stop you from any real attainment, you eat living feeling babys(rice for example ) and don't even have one compassionate thought toward them and they are feeling living babies. Buddah teachings were on compassion for the people neeeded it back thenlike you do today, when you become the true you and unlock your heart of compassion you will cry for those babies you killed and ate they deserve as much respect as your own babies, i don't think you would eat them if you care for them like human babies and that what respect is and you must give them that level of respect and not eat at all.
And won last saying i like to think of is, if you yourself do not search for immortality and try to attain it then you are not like buddah and will not understand his teachings.
