Now from the remainderless fading & cessation of that very ignorance comes the cessation of fabrications. From the cessation of fabrications comes the cessation of consciousness.

Analysis of Dependent Co-arising This should not be taken literally as "cessation of consciousness" because by eliminating ignorance the Buddha did not lose consciousness. IMO, the conditionality should be

Mental Fabrications -> Tainted consciousness

Mental Fabrications (or fabricators as some like to call it) would be things like mental perceptions. My question is, why isn't the sutta clear on that?
