Angela and Marianthy, the trouble with needlework tapestries is that the quality varies from country to country or, to be more accurate, from manufacturer to manufacturer. The people who paint the tapestry are sometimes very good but sometimes they are terrible. That's why the colours differ and also the features change - they use the same original painting as a base/stencil but the final tapestry might be quite different from the painting they copied

I have done one of the canvases from Marinathy's site : "SPIRITUAL NEEDLEPOINT CANVAS:THE SUFFERING OF JESUS #2 ". It's not exactly the same, but obviously the same original painting is depicted. My canvas was very fine and the details of the painting were excellent - a lot better than the one shown on this site. I did the face and neck in petit point - the face turned out wonderfully, so expressive, and His eyes full of pain, but I had a lot of trouble with the neck, shoulders, and chest. I did these 3 times and went to a lot of trouble unpicking what I had already done as the stitches were very tiny. I had to do it though because my first two attempts made it seem as if these areas had a dreadful skin disease. I finally chose very light flesh colours, even for the darker areas and finally achieved something that looked nearly natural. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The second tapestry that I am still doing is the one I posted on my personal albums page. - it's turning out beautifully, but again, I'm doing the face and hands in petit point and it's a lot of work. My canvas is not as beautiful as the painting I posted and I was quite upset when I found the original painting of my canvas on the Internet.
