Every now and then I hear a voice calling my name. It's so real that I usually turn around to see who it is, only to find no one there.

I am not schizophrenic, and I very much doubt that you are, either. I just assume that someone non-physical wants me to be aware of their presence, just wants to say "Hi." That's likely to be the case for you, too. The fact that you had a particularly satisfying meditation experience shortly before this incident leads me to believe that you 'connected' with a spirit of some sort, possibly your spirit guide.

Many of us have experienced at least one instance of hearing a voice, so we can certainly understand how unsettling it can be.
