I have also had a similar experience. It must have been about 3am and I was dreaming I was talking to some ladies. In the background, I could hear a voice saying "can you hear me?". It was distracting so I tried to stay in my dream.

Then I heard the voice again say, "can you hear me?". In my dream I remember looking around for the voice. Then right in my bedroom, next to my ear, I heard the voice shout "HELLO~!!!"

I woke up startled and looked around. I knew someone had to be in the room but there was no one there.
