Hello,
Before I read the last paragraph I was going to mention that I heard it is easier to see spirits out of the corner of your eyes, also in dim light. The fact that you're seeing them at all is a good start.
I'm not sure how you would practice seeing them. Maybe ask your guides to help you out and meditate a bit. I heard meditating sometimes helps.
