I used to take a candle to light for meditating and focused on the flame...sometimes it got freaky and I would feel negtaive energies and the flame would spurt black smoke and I would feel air swirling around me... ---- but anyway! lol maybe you could take your main element and focus on it... if it's earth...go sit in nature..like in your back yard or something by a tree, or a spot on the grass or the ground that is relaxing...or anywhere you want...

if it's water...take a bowl of water or something, maybe even put a good crystal or something in it as a focus point and stare without straining yourself.. try to let your mind flow, like water...along with focusing on your concern...

Fire...as I was talking about before...you could try a candle but I would be careful with those.. actually, you could look up the candle colors used for calling your guides, and use a candle with you for any of the elements you may be... it's just, at least for me.. it seems to attract negative forces. So of course you must shield yourself and ground well enough to keep them from distracting/annoying you. Gah these things get complicated... I bet you know so much more than I do about this.

Air...well.. you kind of breathe it...all the time... so it's just kind of there. I'm not sure what to do...you could play music as the others suggested. relaxing music. oh, and I think negative energies don't seem to like music or singing...so you could try having some one while you focus on whatever your trying to.

Just in general..relax your body as well as possible. Do what you feel drawn to. If you feel drawn to putting your hands together and moving them in a strange certain way.. try it. and pay attention to anything you feel or see, hear...it will be difficult to hear anything for awhile...but when your guides come, they will let you know. You'll just "know" they're there and have feelings about certain things and words that pop into your mind, and when you feel them drifting away.. they are leaving... which you will know too.
