The following news item from an RSS feed might be of interest to Monachos readers:

The Church of England would struggle in the future without women priests, researchers say.

It would not be a news item to say that one of the reasons it is struggling in the present is the decision, in denial of nearly two thousand years of Orthodoxy, to ordain women to the priesthood.

The arguments have been rehearsed exhaustingly, but it remains the case that the Incarnate Lord did not create female apostles. The arguments for creating women priests are secular ones for a secular society.

I have nothing but the greatest of respect for the goodness, the holiness, and the dedication of many of those women who have become 'priests'; but they, and those who ordain them, act in defiance of the actions of the Incarnate Lord. In so doing they have placed their will at the centre of events rather than that of God.

The result is the present Anglican Church. Those who are happy with that are fewer than they used to be.

Why, in our modern western society are we so set on satisfying our own selfish desires?
