Plus, women are not allowed on MT Athos (even female animals - is it truly from Mt Athos) then unless these were castrato I suspect they were not males.
The main voice in the YouTube recording definitely sounds masculine to me, or at least more masculine than feminine. The notes being sung are not really very high, but judging by the tone they are near the top of the singer's comfortable range. It's interesting how prominent the "E" sound is. I mean, the whole thing seems to be vowel sounds, but the "E" really sticks out.

Since Paul infers to having heard similar angelic singing, why should we think it is a hoax? How sad that in this day and age, where miracles can be shared by electronic means, we are still skeptical.
I don't know, I think it's a good thing for those of us (such as myself) who lack discernment to keep a certain distance from things like this at least until they have been confirmed by some source of authority. Angels are not the only things that can make sounds in empty churches.
