From what I've heard the Ark may be placed in the museum being planned in Aksum, but I think it highly unlikely. Not even the "normal" arks that consecrate Ethiopia's thousands of churches are ever taken out of their sanctuaries without layerings of wrappings - how on earth could the Holy Synod allow THE Ark of God to be put on display in such a way?

Abune P'awlos, may God preserve him, is a political appointee whose support amongst the episcopate is at an all time low (not that it was ever very high). Pray for him. He's not the best patriarch Ethiopia has ever had, but he's a faithful man and has done a great deal of good...
