John Litster National boundaries

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One question I have, on a technical basis, is how could bishop Filaret of Minsk be nominated as patriarch across national lines, considering that his diocese of Minsk and Slutsk lies in Belarus? Granted, I don't know much about the position of the Belorussian church in regards to Moscow, but I am sure someone does. The jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate is not restricted to the boundaries of the Russian Federation, and it includes, amongst other places, Belarus. The late Patriarch, after all, was fom Estonia.
